If you haven’t already, my fellow Americans, we are about to go to the polls and vote. I don’t know about you, but I know one thing we could all probably agree on. No matter what side you sit on, once this election is over, we can finally stop getting bombarded with political mail, political ads, and rhetoric from all sides at every turn. I am going to go out on a limb and say I think all Americans would find this as common ground.
With that being said, I will not hide from the truth of the side I stand on. If you have been on HaveCharacter.com for any length of time I probably do not have to tell you this, but I will anyway: I am a Christian first…a follower of Jesus Christ…and because of that my views line up more (surely not all) with the conservative point of view. I don’t vote for a person because anyone running for office has flaws (or not running for that matter, including myself). There is only one person who walked the face of this earth that was right 100% of the time and did no wrong. He went to the cross for you and me over 2,000 years ago and is alive and well today. Instead, I vote for an agenda, and I believe the agendas of our two choices can’t be any more different and quite clear. I hope that I just didn’t turn off anyone who would disagree with me on both my spiritual beliefs or my political beliefs because the topic I am going to bring up affects you and me if we are an AMERICAN. So, please hear me out and if you walk away still in disagreement, then so be it. All love to you and your family regardless. Here we don’t shy away from political discussion and should be able to openly dialogue about it with love and respect. So, with that, here we go.
There are many topics we could discuss, but the one I want to discuss is illegal immigration. I am quite amazed that this topic has not united us in certain solidarity as American Citizens. The obvious issues surrounding this are easy and have been spelled out almost ad nauseam: an illegal immigrant breaks the law the moment they step on our soil, our tax-payer dollars pay for them without them putting anything into our communities, crimes are being committed against our citizens, and more specifically women, and sanctuary cities are being overrun into ruin. When it comes to illegal immigration the problems brought up are crime and money or money and crime.
However, even though I believe those to be true, I think there is something even more important that encapsulates it all. This puts a spotlight on the most important issue we face here. If this gets talked about, it surely doesn’t get talked about enough, nor have I heard any discussion about it quite like this. The biggest issue with illegal immigration is that it threatens this:
OUR AMERICAN WAY OF LIFE! The morals, values, and principles that have made this the greatest country in human history. The land of the free and home of the brave. The land where people can come here to chase THE AMERICAN DREAM. The country that is special. The country that is exceptional. The United States of America. For over 248 years and counting this is what our country has been.
To break this down further let’s analyze a legal immigrant to an illegal immigrant and this should become clear. A legal migrant comes to America respecting the rules of law here. They want to come to the land of opportunity and chase that American Dream. They want to integrate themselves here. They believe we are the best country on the planet. They want to come here, not to soak off this country, but to contribute to it and become one with it! They still love their heritage but want to come here and be called an American. They want to raise their family here. They want this way of life AND They have something to offer it as well!
To a migrant who comes here legally, welcome! And if you become a law-abiding American citizen here, welcome home! We, as a country, have something to offer you. And we are excited about what you have to offer the country. We will be better with you here! You will be better because you came here. You will help keep the American Dream alive for those after us and for those wanting to follow you to become a legitimate part of us. God bless you and your family.
Sadly, when an illegal immigrant comes here, right from the get-go, they are not respecting the rule of law in our country. They all might not be bad people or even hard criminals, but coming here illegally sadly already puts them in line with those who are. The hard criminals are not typically going to be the ones chasing the American Dream or wanting the American way of life. Instead, at best, they want to steal from it. At worst, they want to destroy it. And when we take a very lenient stance on illegal migrants flooding our country, other countries love to send them here for multiple reasons. One is to get rid of them…after all, they are criminals so who would want to deal with them when you can make them someone else’s problem? But, also because our way of life is envied and others want to destroy what we have. Other countries want to see us fall…and not just in a small way. What better way to do that than to have our borders infiltrated with the worst people they want to see leave their country? So, the vast majority of people who will come here illegally, especially what we have seen in recent years…are not coming here because they buy into the morals, values, and principles that make up America. No, they are coming here to change and destroy our country. Currently, we are seeing a glimpse of it with what is happening in our streets and in our cities. If it continues, it will spread like a runaway cancer that will easily take out America as we know it. America right now, as we head toward this election, is a small town in the valley with a big dam sitting on the edge of it keeping the sea of water above from wiping it out. That dam is leaking and if we don’t fix it soon, it will break. Once it breaks it will be game over with no do-overs!
Now before I end this, I would love to talk to the woman out there who have abortion as their biggest issue that they are voting on. Of course, I am talking to those on the left who are voting a certain way because they want abortion back as a federal law right and not a right that was handed back to the states to decide. Let me just put forth this argument. I understand there have been political ads, yes from the left, that say the Republicans will put in a Federal Abortion ban across the land. This can’t be further from the truth because your freedom is more secure when given to the states. They actually did the exact opposite when they turned the abortion laws back over to the states. Let me explain:
You see when you have a federal abortion law that allows for abortion across the land, you are only one federal law decision away from your abortion rights being taken away from you fully. In other words, if what goes around comes around, and you get someone in power who puts a federal law banning abortion across the land, then your abortion rights are gone! However, when the federal government gives the rights over to the states to decide, you have 50 States that have the autonomy and sovereignty to decide how their state wants to handle it. The current Republican nominee is not interested in a Federal Abortion ban, he actually did the exact opposite by turning it over to the states! 50 decisions over 1 Federal decision keeps your freedom on this issue more insulated and protected and not 1 decision away at the federal level from taking it all away. Yes, you might have to travel to another state if your state doesn’t have the rule you want, but you still have the freedom to do so, even if inconvenient. Please let that sink in and ponder that for a minute.
We tend to think that…as long as our side is in power…we will get what we want…but we never think about what happens when the power shifts to the other side. This is why the founding fathers set up our country’s system the way they did. We, as a people, should always want more rights decided at the state level over the Federal level when at all possible. Otherwise, you teeter on the side of a dictatorship if the federal government makes all the rules. When you have 50 states inidividually deciding on an issue, our freedom on that issue is more protected as a whole and insulated. But when that gets taken away by the federal government, we are then 1 potential decision away from oppression if it flip-flops to the side we don’t want! Believe me, I am on the right, and when the right wins, I also have this concern as well. I surely don’t want to jam my beliefs down anyone’s throat. Why? Well, number one, as a Christian, I am here to witness the Truth of Jesus Christ, and if someone rejects Christ, that is between them and their Creator. So, even though I believe we should be a country that adopts Christian principles because I think we would be better off with God than against God, I still would never want it forced because that is not Biblical. Nor can God be fooled by someone being forced by another human being to call Him Lord. And, number two, I understand that if “my side” is in power and things are forced on the opposition, there will come a time when the power shifts to the other side. Now, I am faced with the very thing I didn’t want to happen to me. This is why we need to come together as a people and be willing to have a dialogue with each other, all while respecting the outcomes without wanting to oppress the other side. If we don’t like the outcome, we surely will get another shot at it next time around.
So, if I could be so bold as to just encourage all women to at least consider Illegal Immigration over abortion as your main issue to be concerned about. As I mentioned above, your abortion rights have actually become more secure being given to the states than they ever were at the federal government level. If I were a woman, I would be way more concerned for my safety with what has happened with illegal immigration. At least for an abortion, I would need all 50 states, individually, to ban abortion before that was taken from me (and this is coming from a man who doesn’t want abortion at all because I am a Christian). As a woman, I have to be more fearful walking down the streets of our cities because of the illegal immigrants that have been sent here in droves. I have to be more afraid now than in the past of being out late at night. Sadly, the news stories that have gone mainstream have been about women who have been abused, raped, and killed by men who were the worst of the worst of human beings that came here illegally, not as just illegal immigrants, but as hardened criminals. Hardened criminals who are men willing to do the worst of actions, specifically to a woman. If I were a woman, I want our borders secured now and I would be outraged by what has happened. Ladies, please give this some thought and consider this. Nothing is more heartbreaking than the stories we have heard over the last couple of years. I would respectfully argue your abortion rights have been insulated and protected, your safety not so much! I hope this made some sense because you are valuable.
So, as we go to the polls in just a few days, I would put forth the argument that if you value the American Dream, the land of opportunity, and the freedoms you currently have, the issue of illegal immigration should be at the very top of our list. I wish anyone reading this all the best and encourage you to vote. If we are Americans, let us cast an honest vote, let the chips fall where they may, but let’s stay a free people, loving and respecting the other side. The fabric of our country depends on it.
When it comes to the topic of illegal immigration, what is the dark little secret that no one talks about, or at the very least not talked about enough, specifically in this election cycle? It’s our American way of Life that is quickly being poisoned by those coming into our country with no regard for who we are, what we stand for, and what our country was founded on! I would argue the most important vote is the one to protect our way of life…THE AMERICAN WAY OF LIFE!
Because once the dam breaks…it’s game over with no do-overs!
And the leaks in the dam are popping up all over the place…after election day there may be no way to fix it!
